The African American Allegory

Gallery exhibition, 2018

Explore the culture of the Irimaji, a 10,000 year-old ethnic group whose works were recently uncovered by renowned archaeologist Dr. Enitan Bamidele.

The presentation of these artifacts, transcriptions of text, and Bamidele's onsite journal gives us insight into history, artwork, religion, language, and folk traditions of the Irimaji.

All the while, the exhibition communicates the ruptured relationship African Americans have with their history, heritage, and identity on the African continent as a result of American slavery.
